ICANN Corporation has published its latest tax return for the previous fiscal year (in the US, it covers the fiscal year ending June 30, 2019). The document not only presents the economic activity of the corporation, but also allows those curious to look into the pockets of ICANN staffers and see how much they earned in 2018.
Naturally, the highest-paid employee was CEO Goran Marby: in 2018, he received $865,570 including bonuses. Marby is followed by former president of GDD Akram Atallah whose salary totaled $686,263 through November of 2018 when he left to join Donuts. The next highest was General Counsel John Jeffrey with $648,985.
In addition, Domain Name Wire found eight ICANN employees who made over $500,000 (including benefits), and 14 people who earned more than $400,000 that year. It is also noteworthy that in 2018, ICANN spent a lot more on legal services than in previous years. The corporation’s permanent partner, law firm Jones Day, was paid $7.6 million, up from $5.4 million the prior year.
