He started working in domain industry in 2001 at the Russian Institute for Public Networks (RIPN). After a unit of RIPN that dealt with domain registration was unbundled, Andrei Vorobyev became the director of public and government relations of RU-CENTER domain registrar. In 2015, Andrei Vorobyev has become the Director of Public Relations at Internet Development Institute. In October 2015, he has become the Director of the Coordination Center for TLD RU/РФ.
Over the years, he has become a well-known expert in Internet projects PR and legal support. He has several scientific publications devoted to the protection of rights of Internet intellectual property owners and issues of information security.
In 2012, Andrei was elected co-chairman of the RAEC Commission of hosting providers and registrars. Since 2014 he has been a member of ROCIT’s board.
The General Meeting of Founders (GMF) is the supreme body of the Coordination Center. The GMF is responsible for the following issues:
According to the Articles of Association, the Council is a permanent collegial body of the Coordination Center for TLD RU/РФ. Sergei Petrov is the Chairman of the Council.
Consultative bodies of the Coordination Center for TLDs RU/РФ are established if necessary to develop various projects in conformity of the decisions made by the Council and Director. Consultative bodies can be permanent or operate for a limited period of time needed to develop the project.
Permanent consultative bodies hold regular discussions in person and in absentia and develop proposals on amending the current policy of the Coordination Center in the areas they are responsible for.
Temporary consultative bodies are established in order to address certain tasks, most often as working groups. At different times, there have been working groups on the registration of domain names with Cyrillic symbols, revision of the accreditation conditions for registries, and discussion of the Technical Center’s proposals on upgrading the registry interface, among others. As a result of the working groups’ activities, regulatory documents can be amended.
