On April 16, the next webinar of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ was held on the VK platform of the “Safe Information Environment for Childhood” project. This time it was timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of .RU and dedicated to an important component of the Internet - domains, without which, perhaps, it would never have become a client-side, ubiquitous technology.
The “educational program” report was presented by Georgy Georgievsky, Head of the Department for Work with Registrars and Users of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ. He talked about what a domain is and whether the synonym “site address” can be applied to it, about the hierarchy of the domain name system (DNS), about the types and levels of domains, who manages top-level domains, how to become the owner of a domain name, how the Whois works, what is included in the National Domain Name System and much more.
The next Center’s webinar on the Safe Information Environment platform will take place on May 15. The guest of the broadcast will be Anastasia Savelyeva, senior lecturer at the Department of Infocommunication Systems of St. Petersburg State University of Technology; she will cover the topic “Network of Networks: How the Internet Works and Who Controls It.”
