Internet safety lessons in Volgograd

On March 14, Alina Samokhina, a public relations expert from the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ, along with the Shahulov Lab team, held a class for students at the Volgograd branch of the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics. The students were educated on the risks associated with unreliable VPN services, the dangers of fake websites, and unusual internet fraud schemes. During the second part of the class, Alina Samokhina held the interactive quiz ‘Explore the Internet & Govern It,’ allowing participants to assess their knowledge and win prizes from the Coordination Center.

On March 15, Alina Samokhina visited the Volga Polytechnic School and told students about the Coordination Center’s youth projects: the Summer School for Internet Governance, the podcast, the Digital Reality discussion club, and the Youth Council. The event concluded with a quiz and team competitions for prizes.

On March 18, Shahulov Lab founder Nikita Shakhulov, chair of the Youth Council Andrey Aleinikov and Alina Samokhina met with students from Volgograd State University. Nikita gave a lecture on the risks associated with free VPN services, and Andrei and Alina presented the center’s youth projects and held the quiz ‘Explore the Internet & Govern It.’

The educational journey in Volgograd continued on March 19 and 20 with visits to Secondary School No. 26 in the village of Verkhnezarechensky and Lyceum No. 1 in Volzhsky. High school students were shown how to recognize online scams and how to protect themselves on the internet. The sessions concluded with school teams participating in quizzes and receiving prizes from the Coordination Center.
