On December 1, the General Meeting of Founders of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ took place. The General Meeting approved the Priority Areas of Activity (Development Strategy) until 2025. The draft document was previously reviewed at a meeting of the Coordination Center Council and recommended for review at the center’s General Meeting of Founders.
The priority areas of activity include ensuring the stable functioning of the domain registration system in .RU and .РФ; creating safe conditions for users in .RU and .РФ; building an image of .RU and .РФ as safe domain zones; promoting the development of the domain market; and caring for the public good, such as supporting the .RU and .РФ ecosystem as an optimal environment for the development of the Russian digital economy in the interests of Russian internet users, businesses and state, supporting innovation and development, mastering new technologies, as well as improving the structure, processes, and competencies of the Coordination Center and its staff. The meeting particiapants discussed and approved the report by Coordination Center Director Andrey Vorobyev on the organization’s performance in 2020 as well as the center’s financial statement.
The General Meeting approved amendments to the Charter of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ: it was decided to eliminate the center’s permanent collegial body, the Council, and transfer all its powers to the General Meeting of Founders. The amendments will come into force from the moment the new version of the Charter of the Coordination Center is registered with the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation.
The General Meeting of Founders is the supreme management body of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ. Today the founders of the Coordination Center are the Russian Federation, on behalf of which the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) acts, the Regional Public Center of Internet Technology (ROCIT), the Russian Association of Networks and Services (RANS), the Russian Institute for Public Networks (RIPN), and the Institute of Internet Development.
