ENOG 18 brings together like-minded community

ENOG 18 | RIPE NCC Regional Meeting, organized by RIPE NCC, took place on June 7−8 both online and offline, with several venues arranged for any participants wishing to attend in person, in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kiev and Yerevan. Some 355 people representing 39 countries registered for the event.

The Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ and the Technical Center of Internet, with the support of MSK-IX, hosted a hub in Moscow where attendees watched ENOG sessions on a big screen, asked questions, networked and took part in a quiz that tested their knowledge of ENOG and RIPE.

Chair of the ENOG Program Committee Artyom Gavrichenkov delivered his welcoming remarks, followed by RIPE Chair Mirjam Kühne who spoke about RIPE’s current activities and plans for the near future. Other speakers during the plenary session included Hans Petter Holen (RIPE NCC) and Kevin Meynell (Internet Society).

The first day of ENOG 18 focused on routing loops, BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) instrumentation and RPKI (Resource Public Key Infrastructure), including an introduction tutorial on RPKI. On day two, the participants discussed RIPE services, network time security and a multistakeholder approach to the digital market. During the Birds of a Feather meeting that rounded up the conference, the participants discussed ENOG’s further development paths, existing issues and potential solutions. The ENOG Program Committee called on the attendees to get involved with the committee’s work.

The Moscow venue visitors were offered several extra things to do. At the end of the first day, the Coordination Center held an informal event marking its upcoming anniversary. On the second day, Andrey Vorobyev, Director of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ. , presented a new edition of the Internet Inside magazine dedicated to information security. One of the articles, Security of the Russian Domain, was authored by the Press Service of the Coordination Center.
