Deputy Director of Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ Irina Danelia elected to ccNSO Council

Irina Danelia, Deputy Director of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ, has been elected to the Council of the Country Code Names Support Organization (ccNSO). In the fall of 2020, representatives from European ccTLDs nominated Irina as their candidate for the ccNSO Council. She was the only European candidate.

On December 17, the ccNSO Council approved the election results. Irina Danelia will assume office in 2021.

In recent years, Irina has been involved in the activities of the ccNSO SOPC Standing Committee and working groups to develop policies on ccTLDs.

“I would like to put the expertise and experience I’ve acquired during this work to use for the entire internet community, and above all, the national TLD registries. I thank my colleagues for their trust and will try to do everything I can to see that every voice will be heard and every request answered,” Irina Danelia said.

The Country Code Names Support Organization (ccNSO) is a generally recognized platform for ccTLD registries to communicate and exchange experience and knowledge. ccNSO is responsible for developing global ccTLD policy including on IDN ccTLD as well as presenting these policies to the ICANN Board. The process is governed by the ccNSO Council, which is comprised of 18 members (15 are elected by the ccNSO members and three are appointed by the ICANN Nominating Committee). Its activities are mostly carried out through working groups and committees, such as the Strategic and Operational Standing Committee (SOPC) or the Technical Working Group. Heads and employees of all ccTLD registries can take part in their work.
