On 26th January, 2018, a meeting of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ Council took place. One of the first agenda items discussed was the election of the new Chairman and it was Sergey Petrov, the Internet Development Institute Director, who was elected. He was nominated by the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation and unanimously supported by all members of the Council.
The Council also unanimously approved the report on the first stage of the realization of the project “The study of the impact of import substitution processes on security, sustainability and stability of the Russian segment of the Internet as part of the creation of digital economy in Russia”. During the meeting the Council reviewed the conclusion of the Otechestvenny Soft (National Soft) Software Developers' Association (ARPP) signed by the Chairman of the Board, CEO of the InfoWatch Group of Companies, co-founder of Kaspersky Lab Natalya Kasperskaya. The conclusion states the relevance of the study and it’s high quality. ARPP believe that the work in this direction should be carried on. The CC Council members support this point of view; they gave recommendations on how to organize the second stage of the study.
