On June 12, there will be a meeting of the ICANN Board leading up to the opening of the ICANN 74, which will take place a day later in The Hague. According to the published agenda, one of the issues to be considered by the board will be the change of the registry of the national domains of Belarus .BY and .БЕЛ. Official IANA documents state that since 2012 the Belarusian national domains have been managed by Reliable Software. But now the rights to manage them are transferred to the Belarusian Cloud Technologies LLC company registered in Minsk.
At the same time, on the official website of the Belarusian domain zones cctld.by, this company has been indicated by the .BY and .БЕЛ registry since the beginning of this year. And, most likely, the discussion of the issue by the ICANN board will be reduced to the official approval of the already actually existing state of affairs. The Domain Incite, reporting this news, notes that Belarus is currently subject to sanctions, including from the United States, under whose jurisdiction ICANN is located. However, corporations have to constantly deal with the domains of countries that are subject to certain sanctions. And if ICANN's decisions require the approval of the US government, the corporation receives such approval in almost 100% of cases.
