Namecheap is the second biggest domain registrar

Namecheap has become the second largest domain registrar by domain names under management based on ICANN accreditation, reported company CEO Richard Kirkendall on Twitter. Namecheap has gained the upper hand over another large registrar, Tucows. According to RegistrarOwl.com, at the end of last week Tucows had 10,088, 833 domain names under management, whereas Namecheap had 10,116,123.

“We've got one more mountain ahead of us to climb but we are on our way,” said Kirkendall. His optimism certainly deserves praise, but Namecheap is very far from this goal. The largest registrar is GoDaddy, which is hardly concerned by the achievements and words of its competitors. Citing the same RegistrarOwl.com statistics, Domain Investing reports that GoDaddy is now in charge of 62,889, 526 domain names. So Namecheap has a long climb ahead.
