On March 7-12, Mumbai, India, will host the ICANN85 Community Forum to be attended by the experts of the Coordination Center for TLD RU/.РФ.
ICANN community participants will discuss readiness to launch the second round of the New gTLD Program, promotion of the multilingual internet and universal acceptance, trends and strategies involved in developing national domains, struggle against DNS abuse, and much else.
On March 7, the Government Advisory Council (GAC) will hold a meeting to discuss multilingualism policy on the internet, a policy jointly developed by ICANN and UNESCO. Russian experts will take part in the discussion.
On March 8, Coordination Center Deputy Director Irina Danelia, who is also Deputy Chair of the Strategic and Operational Planning Committee, ccNSO (SOPC), will attend a SOPC meeting. Ms. Danelia will also participate in ccNSO working group and committee meetings and other undertakings.
On March 9, Coordination Center Infrastructure Consultant Vadim Mikhailov will deliver remarks as part of the ccNSO Technologies Day (TechDay & UAC). Mr. Mikhailov will focus on introducing internationalized domain names and e-mails in national zones and present results of a probe into how popular Russian websites support Cyrillic e-mail addresses.
On March 11, Coordination Center Chief Analyst Maria Kolesnikova will address a session dedicated to news from national domain registries and share experience amassed by the Russian registry in expanding the support for national languages in the .РФ.domain.
