On February 26, 19th Safer Runet Week, a nationwide educational campaign aimed at raising awareness of the safe and positive use of digital technologies, concluded in Russia.
For the second year in a row, the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ was the main organizer of the Week, with the participation of the Safe Internet Center in Russia and the support of numerous industry and academic partners, including Kaspersky Lab, F6, RUDN University, Moscow Polytechnic University, Moscow State University, Shakhulov Lab, Coddy, Avito, Likee, IP CLUB, ROCIT, Russian State Children’s Library, and others.
As per tradition, the Safer Internet Week events kicked off on February 10, Safer Internet Day, and were extended to all regions of the country, not only through online events but also offline, reaching schools, libraries, clubs and sections, non-profit organizations, and even small towns and villages.
The official Safer Runet Week program included 25 events. Some of them were held offline in six regions of Russia – Moscow, Vladimir, Kaluga, Moscow, and Chelyabinsk regions, and Stavropol Territory – but most regions also participated in the Week’s events online. If you use the hashtag #saferunetweek on VK, you can find hundreds of various events across the country.
One of the largest events during the Week was a series of roundtable discussions on digital security held at the Russian Civic Chamber, with the support of the Office of the Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights. In 2026, this series continued the tradition of the specialized i-safety conference.
However, the Week’s events are not just about learning something new or testing knowledge and skills; they are also about sharing experiences among specialists working on digital and information security, education, and training. This, for example, was the main goal of one of the Week’s oldest events: the Together for Family Internet nationwide video conference, held at the Russian State Children’s Library. The conference program included detailed presentations from regional and local libraries, demonstrating their own approaches to raising digital awareness and digital security. As a result, effective practices from one region are transferred to others, and interesting and useful experiences are increasingly shared across the country.
Digital industry representatives held meetings with cybersecurity experts and organized their own quizzes. In addition to the well-known Explore the Internet & Govern It program from the Coordination Center, the main organizer of the 19th Week, there was a quiz from the Coddy programming school for children and teenagers, a creative marathon and safe online surfing bingo from the Drugoye Delo service, and a video challenge from the social network Likee. Meetings with experts included specialists from Kaspersky Lab, Shakhulov Lab, and the social network Likee, which also organized a discussion with popular bloggers.
As a rule, the Safer Runet Week marks the launch of new digital security projects and campaigns and the review of existing ones. This year’s 19th Week was no exception: it saw the opening of the Information Security Center in Pyatigorsk, which has traditionally been a driving force in the digital landscape in recent years. The center was established by Pyatigorsk State University and is located within its walls. The center’s primary goal will be to improve the quality of digital security education and training, systematize the most effective and positive practices and disseminate them.
Of course, the Week also included events for users with disabilities. Maximizing the number of services accessible to them and ensuring their safety in the digital space remain extremely pressing issues. In Moscow, a special discussion on this topic was held for the beneficiaries of the House of the Deafblind charitable foundation, featuring cybersecurity specialists. This category of users is also receiving appropriate attention in the regions, as providing them with opportunities for a full life, work, and creativity is unthinkable without addressing the associated security challenges.
The publications from the 19th Week, news, videos the streams, podcasts, and webinars can be found on the event’s official website at неделя-безопасного-рунета.рф.
