An important milestone in the children’s Internet landscape – the .ДЕТИ domain – turned 12 on February 26. The project was launched back in 2014, when the first addresses in this specialized domain zone for beginner Internet users, their parents, and tutors were registered.
Over this time, .ДЕТИ has grown and evolved considerably, uniting hundreds of “white list” websites, projects, and applications. At present, the catalog of the best resources in the domain contains approximately 120 sites covering a wide range of subjects and purposes – from education and entertainment to charity foundations and children’s media.
Among the domain’s highlights are: Библиогид.дети, a recommendation resource on children’s literature; НЭБ.дети, the national children’s electronic library; Веб-ландия.дети, a catalog of the best Russian Internet resources for children and adolescents; Домашка.дети, a digital platform offering homework assistance for schoolchildren and parents; Узелки.дети, an application for teaching reading and writing; Изучи-интернет.дети, an online trainer; Карусель.дети, the website of a federal TV channel; Касперский.дети, a resource on the ABCs of digital literacy; Незрячим.дети, offering lessons on the Internet and digital technologies for visually impaired users; and many others.
With the project’s top priority being user safety, specialists continuously monitor the content of websites hosted in .ДЕТИ in order to protect kids from unwanted information 24/7.
“In 2014, we made a major decision of establishing the Smart Internet Foundation to develop the .ДЕТИ domain as young Internet users need their own safe digital world – a space where they can freely develop and learn without encountering undesirable content,” commented Andrey Vorobyev, Director of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ.
“Now, 12 years later, we continue to support the domain and shape the digital space of the future for our kids to grow, learn, and thrive in a comfortable and secure environment.”
The mission of the .ДЕТИ domain is to gather quality online content within a single Internet space, fostering the development of the Russian children’s Internet and raising the digital culture of children and teenagers. Registering a primary or additional web address in the .ДЕТИ domain means choosing the positive side of the Russian Internet.
