Coordination Center experts to speak at APTLD 89

The Asia Pacific Top Level Domains Association (APTLD) will hold its 89th conference on February 2-5 in a hybrid format, with in-person events hosted in Amman, Jordan.

Representatives of national registries from across the region will discuss technical, legal, and marketing aspects of managing country-code top-level domains (ccTLDs), the role of country-code domains in the digital transformation of society, and will share experiences and best practices in domain development.

Experts from the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ will be substantially involved in the conference. They will address issues related to ensuring the continuity and sustainability of national domains, the use of artificial intelligence and automation to combat DNS abuse, and the initial results of a project aimed at expanding the list of Cyrillic characters available in the .РФ domain.

Irina Daneliya, Coordination Center Deputy Director, will speak in Session 4a (How ccTLD Managers Should Think and Plan for Business Continuity) and Session 7 (Communication Strategy for ccTLD Managers). She will present approaches to crisis communications and business continuity planning for Russian domain zones, including incident preparedness and principles of transparent information sharing.

Olga Baskakova, Project Manager at the Coordination Center, will share the organization’s experience in combating DNS abuse in the .RU and .РФ domains during Session 4b (Evidential Thresholds – Action and Automation). This experience is based on threat differentiation and maintaining a balance between rapid response and the prevention of erroneous decisions.

Maria Kolesnikova, Coordination Center Chief Analyst, will participate in Session 8 (What Does It Mean for “Internet for All”? Reflections for APTLD Members and Partners), where she will present the initial results of the project to support 18 languages of the peoples of Russia in the Cyrillic .РФ domain and discuss how this initiative contributes to advancing universal acceptance.

More information about the conference program and registration for online participation can be found on the APTLD 89 website.

The Asia Pacific Top Level Domains Association (APTLD) brings together more than 50 national registries in the region, including those managing some of the world’s largest country-code top-level domains, such as in Russia, China, and India. Founded in 1998, APTLD is one of four regional organizations representing national top-level domain registries. The Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ has been part of APTLD activities since 2010.
