The Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ and Lyceum in the city of Uryupinsk, Volgograd Region, entered into an Agreement on Cooperation in Education. The document aims to raise the level of school students’ training in IT, enhance their skills of efficient usage of Internet resources, and improve their understanding of the Internet and the domain name system basics.
The main areas of the joint activities include:
- holding themed events and competitions aimed at popularizing Internet literacy among young people, an impressive example being the Study the Internet & Govern It national annual online championship intended to develop a positive experience of teenagers’ interaction with digital technologies;
- organizing hands-on trainings and interactive classes to help students and teachers acquire technical competences in IT and data protection;
- exchanging education resources and instructional support.
According to Lyceum Director Irina Sagalayeva, the cooperation will boost the level of the Lyceum students’ and teachers’ qualification, helping them work out practical skills of analyzing and critically re-evaluating information in the context of an active development of the Internet space.
With the agreement signed on the Old New Year holyday, the event participants received a pleasant gift: the Lyceum students and its director, who were present in Moscow, were invited to an exclusive tour of the Vorobyovy Gory environmental educational center, where they learned about ways of careful attitude to natural resources as well as about specific actions that every city resident can take to improve the environment.
“This is the first case of such an agreement signed with a regional school that shows our interest in raising a generation of skilled professionals in advanced technologies and sustainable development,” Director of the Coordination Center Andrey Vorobyev said, underscoring the importance of the concluded agreement. “Electronics manufacturing puts substantial pressure on natural ecosystems, with electronic waste becoming a major pollutant on the planet, while data centers are increasing energy consumption and emitting a lot of carbon dioxide. This is why it is crucial to foster a new generation of specialists prepared to tackle ecological problems using innovation methods and technologies,” he noted.
Participants in the ceremony were awarded with souvenirs and useful teaching aids containing recommendations for effective interaction with the digital world. The event helped join efforts in teaching the younger generation a responsible attitude to both technology and nature.
