On December 10, restated editions took effect of Applications to the Terms and Conditions of Domain Name Registration in .RU and .РФ, “The List of the Characters Acceptable as Part of the Domain Name in .РФ” and “Accreditation Agreement,” approved by the General Meeting of Founders of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ Autonomous Non-Profit Organization of October 24, 2025 (Protocol 36 of an Extraordinary Meeting of the Founders of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ dated October 24, 2025).
The list of the characters that may be used in registering a domain name in the .РФ domain has now been supplemented with the “ӕ” character (U+04D5 under the Unicode standard) from the Ossetian language alphabet. Thus, the number of the state languages of the Russian Federation republics, where .РФ domain names may be registered, keeps increasing; currently, there are 18 such languages.
