Russian IT infrastructure management platform BILLmanager confirms its compliance with universal acceptance criteria for the .РФ domain

As part of the Поддерживаю.РФ (I Support.РФ) project, the developer of BILLmanager took part in an assessment to verify compliance with universal acceptance standards for the .РФ domain. BILLmanager 6 has now received a “silver level” compliance certificate. Developed by a Russian company, the platform has shown partial compatibility with internationalized domain names (IDN) and email addresses (EAI).

BILLmanager currently offers full support for Cyrillic domain names and partial support for Cyrillic email addresses. This adaptation to modern internet standards is a key component of the platform’s strategic development roadmap, designed to align with the evolving needs of Russian users and regulatory requirements.

The Universal Acceptance Verification Program for the .РФ domain was established by the Поддерживаю.РФ project. This program evaluates the availability and extent of software support for Cyrillic domain names and email addresses within the .РФ domain space. Any software vendor or online service developer can obtain verification by testing their product according to the project’s guidelines and recommendations for supporting Cyrillic internet identifiers.

Pavel Guralnik, CEO of ISPsystem, stated: “As a Russian company, ensuring our products fully address the linguistic requirements of our users is paramount. Supporting Cyrillic domains transcends technical implementation; it’s fundamentally about digital sovereignty. Earning the ‘silver’ certificate validates that we are on the right path.”

Maria Kolesnikova, Head of the Поддерживаю.РФ project, added: “We deeply appreciate this responsible and user-centric approach to Russian software development. Support for Cyrillic internet identifiers serves as a vital tool for expanding the Russian language’s online presence and safeguarding the preservation and advancement of the official languages of the Russian Federation’s republics, as well as other languages of Russia’s peoples. Consequently, every software product that meets the criteria for Cyrillic domain name support holds significant value for us.”

The Поддерживаю.РФ project was launched in 2020 by the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ to mark the tenth anniversary of Russia’s national top-level domain .РФ. The initiative serves a dual purpose: assisting software developers in implementing comprehensive support for Cyrillic domain names and email addresses, while helping system administrators identify and configure software with these capabilities.

The project’s website contains Russian-language documentation on working with internationalized domain names (IDN) and email addresses (EAI), including standards and current practices for processing them in software, as well as a regularly updated catalog of software products indicating their current IDN and EAI support status.
