Strana Chitalia and the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ form a “cultural alliance”

On November 5, the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ and the cultural and educational initiative Strana Chitalia (Reading Land) signed a cooperation agreement. The joint project aims to enhance digital literacy among children and adolescents by developing their skills in media design, critical thinking, and responsible consumption of information, including digital media.

The signing took place in a festive atmosphere during the finals of the Proud of You, My Russia! book trailer competition. A book trailer is a short video that creatively presents a book, designed to capture the viewer’s interest and inspire them to read the full work. The competition seeks to celebrate Russia’s literary heritage and cultivate a love of reading and appreciation for Russian literature among schoolchildren and students.

The Coordination Center participated in the competition as a partner and presented gifts from the Study the Internet & Govern It project to the winners in the My Native Land category. Participants – friends working in creative teams and family groups – shared stories about their hometowns, creating videos that highlighted the history, culture, and natural beauty of their regions while showcasing their distinct character and charm.

“We believe it is important to join the Strana Chitalia project, as this partnership perfectly combines traditional approaches to children’s education and development with modern technology,” said Director of the Coordination Center Andrey Vorobyev in his welcoming address to the competition winners. “The Coordination Center runs educational programs for all age groups – from young children to seniors – helping them build lasting knowledge and healthy digital habits, including skills in consuming and creating online content. Participation in Chitalia’s initiatives, such as book trailer competitions, offers children valuable experience in producing high-quality media using a wide range of digital tools. By working together, we can nurture a generation that feels equally confident in both traditional and digital worlds.”

It is worth noting that the partnership between the Coordination Center and Strana Chitalia spans several key areas, including organizing educational events to enhance children’s understanding of information and communication technologies, fostering informed and responsible internet use, and creating specialized educational materials and training programs for teachers and parents.

Both organizations emphasized that this collaboration will help create the foundation for a successful entry into the world of modern digital culture and inspire the creative potential of Russia’s younger digital generations.
