On December 10, 2025, the updated versions of the Appendix to the .RU and .РФ Domain Name Registration Rules, List of Characters Permitted in Domain Names in the .РФ Domain, and the Accreditation Agreement will come into effect. These versions were approved by the General Meeting of Founders of the Coordination Center for Country-Code TLD on October 24, 2025 (Minutes No. 36 of the Extraordinary General Meeting of Founders of the Coordination Center for Country-Code TLD on October 24, 2025).
The amendments expand the range of characters available for domain registration in the .РФ domain by adding the Ossetian letter “ӕ” and include clarifications to the Accreditation Agreement.
On July 2, 2025, the General Meeting of Founders approved the addition of an Appendix titled “List of Characters Permitted in Domain Names in the .РФ Domain” to the Registration Rules. The updated Rules came into force on August 11, 2025, allowing the registration of internet addresses using characters from the 17 official languages of the republics of the Russian Federation in the Russian Cyrillic domain zone .РФ
