Safer Internet Week in the Primorye Territory

On October 7-10, 2025, Safer Internet Week took place in the Primorye Territory, organized by the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ. The main goal of the Week was to raise awareness of cybersecurity measures among internet users and to promote the development of a safe and beneficial digital space for people, businesses, and the state. Participants included school and college students from across the Primorye Territory, as well as teachers and staff from cultural and extracurricular education institutions.

The Week began in Chuguyevka, the third most populous village in the Russian Far East. On October 8, Coordination Center Director Andrey Vorobyev, Chief Analyst Yevgeny Pankov, and Public Relations Specialist Alina Samokhina met with students and teachers of the Chuguyevka College of Agriculture and Service, delivering an engaging lecture for first-year students and teachers titled Cybersecurity in the Realities of 2025. Its participants learned about modern online threats and effective methods for protecting personal data. The experts held an active dialogue with the students, focusing on key aspects of digital security and topics such as social media etiquette and countering cyberbullying. Following the lecture, Coordination Center specialists carried out a lively quiz, Explore the Internet & Govern It!, where participants demonstrated their digital literacy and tested their knowledge of internet safety.

That same day, Coordination Center representatives met with the management of the Fadeyev Literary and Memorial Museum to discuss the use of digital technologies in museum practice.

The baton of Safer Internet Week was then taken up by Dalnegorsk, the easternmost and highest-elevation city in Primorye (180–804 meters above sea level). On October 9, Andrey Vorobyev and Yevgeny Pankov addressed high school students at Dalnegorsk Secondary School No. 1, which is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year. The experts spoke about current cyberthreats, the creation of strong passwords, and methods for identifying scams and phishing websites. The students reinforced their knowledge by taking part in the Explore the Internet & Govern It! quiz. Teams from five Dalnegorsk schools participated: Secondary School No. 1 took first place, Secondary School No. 25 came second, and Secondary School No. 21 placed third.

Also on October 9, a Digital Mentor seminar was held for teachers from Secondary School No. 1, introducing them to educational and outreach projects of the country-code domain registry. Teachers from Dalnegorsk were also invited to participate in the Explore the Internet & Govern It! national online championship, which the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ and Rostelecom are holding for the 14th time this year. Dalnegorsk schoolchildren were encouraged to take an active part in the online championship.

Coordination Center experts also introduced staff of the Dalnegorsk Central City Library to the board game version of Explore the Internet & Govern It! In turn, the librarians presented their own creation, the Height 611 board game, while colleagues from the local history museum introduced the guests to the rich cultural and historical heritage of the Primorye Territory.

Safer Internet Week in Primorye concluded with a series of events in the city of Artyom. On October 10, Coordination Center experts held an Internet Safety Lesson for students of all years at the Primorye Construction College. Yevgeny Pankov spoke about most common online fraud schemes, digital security principles, and the basics of financial literacy, while Alina Samokhina led another Explore the Internet & Govern It! quiz, where students tested and expanded their knowledge of internet technologies. The sessions sparked strong interest with students actively participating in discussions, asking questions, and analyzing real-life online scenarios.

Later that day, Coordination Center experts joined a roundtable discussion at the Artyom Museum of Local History, where they and museum staff explored modern formats for engaging young audiences and integrating digital technologies into educational projects. The museum presented several of its own developments, including board games and postcards with augmented reality elements.

We would like to thank all organizers and participants of Safer Internet Week for productive meetings, exchange of valuable experience, and inspiring cooperation!
