Coordination Center experts share digital literacy strategies with educators

An expert seminar, Information Environment Resources: Mechanisms for Shaping Gen Alpha Worldviews, is underway in Sochi from October 1-7. The event coincides with Teacher’s Day (observed on October 5 in 2025) and forms part of the nationwide Safe Information Environment project. The seminar is organized by the Academy of Innovative Education and Development, with support from the regional branch of the Women’s Union of Russia and the Sochi Union of Families.

Experts from the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ are taking part in the seminar. The Center’s Director, Andrey Vorobyev, contributed to a roundtable discussion on how media content reflects the safety of families and children in the digital space and the realm of ideas and values. He also delivered a public lecture on the Coordination Center’s key projects and gave a live demonstration of the Explore the Internet & Govern It quiz for participants.

In his presentation, Andrey Vorobyev highlighted the Coordination Center’s educational and outreach projects – the Family IT Marathon and the Explore the Internet school of mentors. He also shared insights from running Safer Internet Week in Kaliningrad, an event that engaged teachers and students from all 158 schools in the city and wider region. Following the session, interested educators were invited to enroll in the School of Mentors program.

On the sidelines of the seminar, the Coordination Center’s Director met with teachers and students from Sochi schools and academic gymnasiums.

Together with the teaching community, we discussed the role of information culture volunteers, including their activities, social impact, and various formats of engagement,” Vorobyev said. “Those can include serving on information security committees, participating in one-time events and long-term projects, running awareness campaigns for children and youth, and providing support at public events or in institutions like museums and libraries. I am confident that the Coordination Center’s experience in this area can be valuable for regions across the country.”

Andrey Aleinikov, Chairman of the Coordination Center’s Youth Council, also met with schoolchildren and university students. He hosted an Explore the Internet & Govern It online quiz for participants from the Sochi branch of the Russian State Social University and seventh-graders from Academic Gymnasium No. 44. The students engaged actively in the quiz, demonstrating a strong command of the subject, and received well-deserved prizes and souvenirs from the Coordination Center.
