Working Group on .RU and .РФ Domain Name Registration Rules holds regular meeting

On July 30, the Working Group on Updating the Rules for .RU and .РФ Domain Name Registration and Other Regulatory Documents met for a regular session. The meeting continued discussions initiated previously, focusing on several key regulatory and procedural matters: regulation of the registrar’s actions during identification and verification of the domain administrator’s data, processing and storing the personal data of the domain name administrator, and legal issues related to domain name litigation.

The working group also reviewed possible limitations on pricing practices by registrars for re-released (vacated) domain names and clarifications regarding the circumstances under which a user becomes the administrator of a domain, among other amendments to certain points of the Rules.

The new working group was established in mid-July. It aims to explore potential changes to both procedural aspects of domain name registration and the accreditation requirements for registrars. Should amendments to the Rules or related regulatory documents be deemed necessary, the group will draft a Technical Assignment in accordance with the official Regulations for the Development, Approval, and Implementation of Regulatory Documents.

The next meeting of the working group is scheduled for September 3.
