Coordination Center experts take part in IT Timurovite Team School

On June 24-27, the IT Timurovite Team School, IT Technologies for Human Life, took place in Barnaul as part of the 2025 Electronic Week in Altai, annual international forum dedicated to the development and application of ICT in various spheres of human life.

The opening ceremony, marked by the ceremonial flag raising, was attended by Altai Territory Minister of Digital Development Yevgeny Zryumov.

We have traditionally supported the IT Timur movement and fully share its aspirations towards the creative industries,” the Minister noted.

The IT Timurovite School, established and led by Alena Mitina, Director of the Center for Project Solutions for Community Schools (Barnaul, Altai Territory), and the Toporov Altai Institute for Education Development, once again brought together leading experts, including representatives of the Coordination Centre for TLD .RU/.РФ - Head of the Center’s Project Department Olga Yakovleva, and Data Analyst Yevgeny Pankov. They delivered lectures for teachers and schoolchildren, hosted the Explore the Internet and Govern It! interactive quiz, and took part in various events organized by the School.

Yevgeny Pankov made a presentation to teachers from Altai Territory community schools on current forms of internet fraud from phishing and vishing to more complicated schemes involving fake online services. He also outlined the major risks children face in the digital environment and offered practical strategies to safeguard them. He also led the Explore the Internet and Govern It! quiz for the School participants, which demonstrated excellent knowledge of internet technologies, resulting in a tie between the teams.
Olga Yakovleva presented the ecosystem of the Explore the Internet project, including the Explore the Internet and Govern It! nationwide online championship, the Mentor School project, and the internet quiz among other initiatives. The Mentor School project attracted particular interest: the organizers stressed that mentoring is now emerging as a distinct profession and a vital competency, with schools in the Altai Territory expressing readiness to participate in new educational programs developed by the Coordination Center.

On the final day of the 2025 E-Week in Altai, a developers’ hackathon was held. Participants, guided by Olga Yakovleva, worked on slogans for souvenir items themed around the Russian language on the internet. The results exceeded expectations – the submissions were creative, topical, and many will be further integrated into Coordination Center projects.

The School concluded with Platforms for Success: Game Libraries, a section where the Coordination Center experts presented the Explore the Internet and Govern It! board game, as well as Domain Investor, a game based on domain name valuation methodology.

This is not the first time we’ve participated in the IT Timur Team School, and can see the keen interest our educational initiatives continue to generate among schoolchildren, teachers, and parents. This year, we introduced our School of Mentors, and we look forward to welcoming teachers from Altai among its students. Moreover, we hope that our discussions on the latest tricks used by online fraudsters will help participants navigate the internet more safely and confidently,” Olga Yakovleva said.

With that, the forum concluded its work. Our sincere thanks to the organizers and participants for such an inspiring atmosphere and sincere interest in the development of internet technologies.
