Applications open for Summer School on Internet Governance

The Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ has announced the opening of applications for the sixth Summer School on Internet Governance.

The School, organized by the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ in collaboration with the Faculty of International Relations at St. Petersburg State University (SPBGU), is part of the Schools on Internet Governance (SIG) global initiative.

The School’s primary objective is to immerse participants in contemporary issues of internet governance and digital cooperation at both global and local levels while equipping them with the skills to engage in international organizations, conferences, and dialogues on these topics.

Students, postgraduates, young educators, researchers, and professionals with an interest in internet governance are invited to apply.

This year, the Summer School on Internet Governance will be conducted online from July 14 to August 18 and will include two stages:

From July 14 to 28, the preparatory and qualifying stage will take place.

Participants will complete an introductory course on internet governance to gain a global perspective on the subject. Attendees will have online sessions twice a week and complete homework assignments to prepare for webinars and reinforce their learning.

Topics of the preparatory stage:

  • History of the Internet
  • Internet Infrastructure
  • Models and Stakeholders in Internet Governance
  • Global Internet Governance Processes
  • Current Internet Governance Issues

Following this stage, the 40 most active and engaged participants will be selected to advance to the main stage of the School.

The main stage will be conducted from August 2 to 18.

This stage is an SPBGU-certified continuing education program and will feature engagement with internet governance experts through thematic lectures and discussions. Participants will work in groups, with the final deliverable being an analytical essay.

  • Digital Diplomacy
  • Sustainable Development
  • Digital Rights and Opportunities
  • Digital Technologies and Artificial Intelligence

Upon successful completion of the main stage, participants will receive a certificate of continuing education from SPBGU.

Participation in the School is free of charge. Applications are open until July 10.
