Applications open for DOT Journalism 2025

On June 6, Russian Language Day, the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ opens the application period for the 13th annual DOT Journalism competition to professional and aspiring journalists who cover domains, digital technologies, and the online space. The competition is organized by the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ and the Russian Association of Electronic Communications, with the support of the Smart Internet Foundation (registry for the .ДЕТИ domain).

This year’s competition coincides with a significant milestone: the 15th anniversary of the Cyrillic .РФ domain, and the date chosen to launch it – Russian Language Day – bears special significance. The first category of DOT Journalism 2025 is titled “Speaking and Writing in Russian” – celebrating linguistic heritage in the digital era.

The competition, first held in 2012, has recognized over 200 laureates from among Russia’s professional and emerging media voices. In 2024, more than 700 entries were submitted, covering topics ranging from domain industry developments and digital transformation to cybersecurity.

This year, works are accepted in four categories:

  • Speaking and Writing in Russian (best article to mark the 15th anniversary of the .РФ domain)
  • Domain Coffee Break: What the Industry Lives Like (reports on various industry events)
  • Domain Security/Danger (reports on cybersecurity)
  • Domains in Lay Terms (best article for mass readers)

Applications for the DOT Journalism 2025 competition will be accepted until November 1, 2025. The winners will be announced in December, and will receive diplomas and valuable prizes in recognition of their contributions to journalism in the digital sphere.
