On June 5, Nizhny Novgorod hosted the opening of the Global Digital Forum, a flagship event of the year dedicated to Russia’s collaboration with partner nations in information and communications technologies (ICT). The central focus areas include cybersecurity, digital sovereignty, and international ICT cooperation.
The Global Digital Forum is being held for the first time as part of the Digitalization of Industrial Russia (CIPR) conference. Experts from the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ are actively involved in the forum’s proceedings.
The event spans two days – June 5 and 6 – with June 5 dedicated to an educational track. Workshops, meetings, discussions, competitions, and tournaments are being organized for both Russian and international participants. The Coordination Center hosted one such session, featuring an interactive lecture on internet security and the Study the Internet & Govern It! game.
Coordination Center Data Analyst Evgeniy Pankov delivered a lecture on online fraud and countermeasures, detailing modern phishing techniques, providing real-world attack examples, and offering practical advice on safeguarding against digital threats.
Andrey Aleynikov, Chair of the Coordination Center’s Youth Council, conducted the Study the Internet & Govern It! online game for attendees. All participants received commemorative gifts from the Coordination Center. Due to strong interest from international guests, the quiz was conducted in English.
Simultaneously, the final day of CIPR is underway, with Coordination Center experts continuing to provide consultations on domain name registration, legal support, and the 15th anniversary of the .РФ domain. Forum guests are also learning about the Center’s initiatives, youth projects, and the Summer School on Internet Governance program.
Earlier at CIPR, Coordination Center Director Andrey Vorobyev spoke in the media studio of Digital Economy, an autonomous non-profit organization, about the .РФ domain’s milestone anniversary, its key achievements, and the growing demand for Cyrillic web addresses. The interview also highlighted the launch of support for Russia’s minority languages and the draft order by the Ministry of Digital Development promoting Cyrillic addressing in Russian software.
On June 3, the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ and RTK-DPC signed a Memorandum on Expanding Support for Internet Addressing Tools in the Official Language of the Russian Federation.
CIPR concludes today, while the Global Digital Forum continues tomorrow, June 6 – stay tuned for further updates!
