2025 HostObzor forum holds legal panel

The business program of the 41st National Forum of Hosting Providers, Domain Registrars, Data Center Operators and Cloud Providers (HostObzor) rounded up with a legal panel discussion organized by the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ. Deputy Director of the Coordination Center for Legal Affairs Sergey Kopylov spoke about legislative changes concerning personal data, and announced the reduction of the registry’s data storage terms.

Chair of the Coordination Center Legal Committee Marina Rozhkova addressed the legal nature of domains, noting the similarities and differences between domains and property rights, intellectual property, and service deliverables.

Coordination Center’s Deputy Director of the Legal Department Natalya Kiseleva described a potential domain succession procedure based on the analysis of foreign registries, and elaborated on the legal and technological challenges posed by such an initiative.

The section ended with a Q&A.

“The HostObzor legal panel discussion is an excellent opportunity for sharing experience and knowledge with our colleagues from the industry, speaking about recent developments and plans, introducing forum participants to the latest judicial practices related to domains, and developing new approaches as our partners and registrars share legal aspects of their operations. The Coordination Center can help them solve these problems,” Sergei Kopylov commented.

The 41st National Forum of Hosting Providers, Domain Registrars took place on May 29-31 in St. Petersburg. The Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ is the forum’s long-time co-organizer and anniversary partner. Coordination Center experts held a domain and legal panels, followed by a quiz on the 15th anniversary of country-level domain .РФ.
