RT-DC joins Memorandum on the development of support for internet addressing tools in the state language of the Russian Federation

At the CIPR conference today, the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ and RT-DC signed a Memorandum on the Development of Support for Internet Addressing Tools in the State Language of the Russian Federation.

Cooperation under the Memorandum is to assist in advancing the internet in the state language of the Russian Federation, as well as in expanding support for the internet addressing tools using the alphabets of the official languages of the republics of the Russian Federation.

The document was signed by Director of the Coordination Center Andrey Vorobyev and RT-DC General Director Sergei Bochkarev.

“The digital environment should be easily accessible and user-friendly; and Russian is not just a communication means, but a part of the digital identity of millions of people. Therefore, support for Cyrillic internet addressing is an important step towards digital sovereignty and user comfort. We are glad that the industry’s top players share our vision and are ready to develop the Russian-speaking internet together, making it more tech savvy, safe, and comfortable,” Andrey Vorobyev stressed.

“This agreement will make it possible to contibute to the development of national internet resources and show the cultural integrity of the peoples of Russia within modern internet communications systems,” Sergei Bochkarev added.

In May 2025, RosNIIROS, the Internet Technical Center, MSK-IX, Rucenter, Reg.Ru, Russkiye Imena, MBK Laboratory, ROCIT, the Foundation for Assistance to Internet Technologies and Infrastructure, RUDN University, MSLU and other Russian organizations joined the Memorandum on the development of support for internet addressing in the state language of the Russian Federation.
