On the eve of the 15th anniversary of the .РФ Cyrillic domain, Maria Kolesnikova, Chief Analyst of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ and head of the Поддерживаю.РФ project, gave an interview to the Internet from the Inside magazine.
In her interview, she shared the history of the .RF domain, its impact on digital accessibility in Runet, the obstacles that still prevent the widespread adoption of Cyrillic addresses, and why it is important for developers to consider multilingualism in creating online services.
Maria paid special attention to the Поддерживаю.РФ project:
“Our main goal is to create a software ecosystem that would work correctly with the .РФ domain and with Cyrillic mail in the first place, as well as with any IDN domains and mail addresses in all languages that are supported in the Unicode standard.”
