.RU and .РФ to offer AI domain name generation capabilities

The Coordination Center now offers a service enabling users to benefit from artificial intelligence when choosing a name for their domains in the .RU and .РФ zones. This new feature is available on our website starting April 17.

An earlier version of this service helped users pick domain names by entering specific parameters such as key words, topics, regions, purposes, etc. In its latest iteration, it offers an AI-Generated Selection tab where users can simply describe their future site or project in a text window and get a catchy and relevant domain name suggestion.

AI technology powers the domain name suggestion service by analyzing user requests, extracting the key messages from them and making relevant recommendations. It can be even more accurate and creative in its suggestions when users also describe their companies or brands, or write down a few words about other things which set their company or project apart.

The service has a default setting to suggest medium-sized domain names containing between 10 and 15 characters, but users are free to ask for shorter or longer designations. This new function is powered by YandexGPT neural network, a solution designed in Russia.

Just as before, the service suggests available domain names only. Once users select the option they like, the service prompts them to proceed with registering it by redirecting the user to a dedicated page for choosing an accredited registrar.

Coordination Center Director Andrey Vorobyev said that artificial intelligence offered users new opportunities making it easier for them to find a domain name that would suit them best.

The Coordination Center keeps developing its digital services and has been proactive in introducing the best domestically developed solutions. Our objective consists of making them as user-friendly as possible, functional and adapted for today’s world. We want to make it easier for every user to launch new digital projects in Runet,” he added.
