Russian Domain Space 2025 report published

The Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ has published the 14th issue of its annual report Russian Domain Space: Outcomes and Development Prospects. The review covers the most significant and interesting events that took place in the Russian and global domain industry last year, providing comprehensive and detailed information on the domain market development.

According to the report, the Russian country code top-level domain .RU, which marked its 30th anniversary in 2024, grew by seven percent year-on-year to reach a 30-year high of 5.8 million names. During the year, it registered 1,722,064 new domains, retaining the 5th place in the global ranking of ccTLDs.

By the end of the year, there were 158 IDN domains in the world, with 17 of them being Cyrillic. The Russian domain .RF retains the 1st place by the number of registered names: more than 760,000, of which 182,351 were added over the last year.

The Domain Patrol project blocked 53,930 malicious domains in the .RU and .RF zones, and added more than 167,000 malicious resources to the Netoscope database – almost three times more than in the previous year. The average response time was 13.5 hours, which is the world’s best result.

The report also provides data on the state of the global domain industry, including new Russian and foreign TLDs, the penetration of domain names in different countries, and much more.
