On March 31, Chelyabinsk Multidisciplinary Lyceum No. 148 hosted a scientific and practical conference, Information Security and Children, focusing on key issues related to protecting the younger generation in the digital space. The event addressed such topics as school-family collaboration, volunteer initiatives, and the effect of computer games on teenagers.
Among the participants was Andrey Aleinikov, chairman of the Youth Council of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ and a member of the Study the Internet & Govern It project team.
In his speech, he highlighted the importance of the efforts to enhance digital literacy and cultivate online hygiene skills as key components of cybersecurity. He also introduced the interactive project Study the Internet & Govern It. Additionally, Mr. Aleinikov spoke about the Study the Internet Mentor School, a professional development program designed for teachers and child-focused specialists. With the fourth Mentor School training beginning today, April 1, the conference participants were given the opportunity to join the project.
“The Mentor School offers teachers a chance to both enhance their qualifications and to join a professional community of experts shaping the future of digital education,” Andrey Aleinikov emphasized.
He also highlighted two upcoming events:
- The 15th Russian Internet Governance Forum (RIGF 2025), scheduled for April 7, coinciding with the birthday of the .RU domain. This hybrid-format forum will address key topics, including digital literacy for children and adolescents, critical thinking, and online threats.
- The Family IT Marathon, whose theme this year focuses on technologies in education. Registration is open until April 22, with results announced on May 15, in celebration of International Family Day.
At the conference, teachers also had the opportunity to see the Study the Internet & Govern It project in action. A quiz was organized, with two teams of teachers competing alongside students from the 8th, 9th, and 10th grades of Lyceum No. 148.
In order to expand the reach of its projects, the Coordination Center signed a cooperation agreement with the Krupskaya Palace of Young Pioneers and Schoolchildren in Chelyabinsk in March 2025. This partnership focuses on joint initiatives in supplementary education and the organization of IT-related events, including the Study the Internet & Govern It regional online championship, as well as master classes and creative meetings. A key priority of the agreement is information security as well as the efforts to achieve greater internet safety, prevent illegal online activities, and enhance digital literacy among users.
