On March 28, Yerevan, Armenia, will host the Universal Acceptance Day 2025, a regional conference held to mark the global Universal Acceptance Day. The conference is held in Yerevan for the second time. It will bring together representatives from various countries in the region, including members of the Universal Acceptance Regional Coordination Group of CIS and Eastern Europe. The conference is organized by Internet Society NGO, ISOC.AM, and ICANN.
The main topics of Universal Acceptance Day 2025 will be achieving readiness for universal acceptance in individual countries and across the entire world, sharing international experience and global and regional strategies for the development and implementation of support for internationalized domain names and emails in software, and the possibilities of the second round of delegating new top-level domains.
Experts of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ take an active part in the conference. Director of the Center Andrey Vorobyev will speak at the panel discussion, Global UA Strategies in Asia-Pacific Region, where he will present the Russian registry’s projects and initiatives designed to support and develop the Cyrillic domain .РФ, which will mark its 15th anniversary this year and is the largest internationalized top-level domain in the world.
Maria Kolesnikova, Chief Analyst of the Coordination Center, Chairperson of the Universal Acceptance Regional Coordination Group of the CIS and Eastern Europe, will take part in the discussion of best practices for implementing UA. She will share successful approaches to promoting and implementing Cyrillic domain names and email addresses in software, as well as the activities of the Поддерживаю.РФ project.
