On March 14, experts of the Coordination Center took part in the Cybersecurity and Children annual scientific and practical conference. The series of online and offline meetings focused on taking care of the mental and somatic health of children and young people.
At the plenary session, held in the assembly hall of Clinical Hospital No. 85 of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia, reports were made on the importance of digital hygiene of the younger generation, as well as on sets of preventive measures that help maintain the mental health of children and teenagers who actively use the internet. Focus was placed on the need for interdepartmental interaction between the healthcare, education and IT industries in matters of preserving children's mental and somatic well-being.
“Involving children in criminal activities is still an acute problem, with various means used for this: sometimes they are deceived, sometimes blackmailed, and sometimes convinced of their impunity. It is very important to figure out what can be done and how to influence the situation by joint efforts, together with doctors, psychologists, teachers, representatives of the IT sector,” Director of the Coordination Center Andrey Vorobyev stressed.
At the plenary session, Andrey Vorobyev announced the launch of the Explore the Internet & Govern It family IT marathon. Registration will be open throughout March 25.
“When we first held the Safe Internet Year in 2009, it was difficult. There were no common approaches, or legislative restrictive mechanisms; at first all this was self-regulated. Then, the development of training programs began: for example, we have been holding the Explore the Internet & Govern It! for 13 years now, together with Rostelecom, as well as the IT marathon for family teams. Together with partners, we have developed a whole methodology and knowledge base on how the internet is structured and governed,” he said.
After the plenary part, an Explore the Internet & Govern It quiz was held, in which the teams of the Movement of the First, the Academy of Innovative Education and Development, and the Clinical Hospital No. 85 of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia took part. All participants received memorable prizes and gifts.
