This year, large updates were introduced to the Quiz, a simulator of the Study the Internet & Govern It educational project created by the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ.
The quiz can be used to test knowledge offline, for example, in class, extracurricular lessons, or specialized events. Questions can be accessed by all users registered on the project’s website.
First, the participants’ avatars have changed: simple pictograms have been replaced by three different emotional images of the project mascot, the RUBI robot.
Second, a new, fourth round was added to the CHILDREN section, adapted for younger schoolchildren. By answering this round’s questions, participants will be able to test their level of digital literacy and also learn something new: for example, mail.ru has adopted a pet puppy: the mascot Byte; devices that are worn on the body or built into clothes and accessories are called “wearable devices;” and the clipboard is needed to transfer and copy information between programs and applications among others.
The ENG section, designed to test knowledge of the internet and digital technologies in English (sometimes used by the CCTLD and at international events), was also updated, as well as the Main section, which includes the main bulk of the quiz questions.
The number of rounds in both sections has been reduced, thus replacing outdated questions with those that are still relevant. Some questions were reformulated for easier listening. In addition, almost every round contains several new questions that have not previously been included in the Quiz and other simulators of the Study the Internet project. For example, in one of them, players are encouraged to think logically and answer which excessive consumption of internet content led to the emergence of the term “brainrot,” which was even included in the top 10 words of 2024 according to the British Collins Dictionary.
These are not the first changes on the website of the Study the Internet & Govern It project since the year began. Earlier, the project said that a new educational module, Digital Art, was launched in the Knowledge online game; tests for advanced and beginning internet users in the Knowledge in Tests section were added; and, finally, five new modules appeared in the Knowledge for the Visually Impaired section.
