As is traditional, at the beginning of the year, the interactive digital literacy project Explore the Internet & Govern It! announces novelties in its online simulators and methodology.
This year, the project’s Knowledge section – a gaming platform where players learn more about the structure of the internet and digital technology through completing exciting quests – now includes a Digital Art module. It is one of the most visually stunning games on this learning platform, enabling players to explore the various types of digital art, learn about digital artists and their signature techniques by examining and appreciating each piece and its unique features.
The game embraces five major aspects. The players will find out what digital art is; how technology helps artists in their work and what challenges they face; who is known as a digital artist; how digital art originated; and what digital innovations modern museums use. To memorize more facts, the player will complete a matching task, play a fillwords game, do a quiz, use their knowledge of geography, and finally try to tell the works of a human artist from those produced by artificial intelligence – the differences will not always be obvious.
To play the new game, please register or log in on the Explore the Internet & Govern It! website. You will also have access to the other 33 modules of the Knowledge online simulator, the Quiz, the new section, Knowledge in Tests, as well as Knowledge for the Blind, a section for users with visual disabilities.
The Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ has been implementing the Explore the Internet game-based learning project with the support of Rostelecom since 2012. Our goal is to reduce the digital divide among Runet users by increasing the digital literacy of school and university students and their mentors, and bolstering their interest in IT professions.
