The Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ and the Academy of Innovative Education and Development invite school students and mentors from orphanages, boarding schools, small-class, and rural schools to join the new educational program Unlocking the Code. The curriculum features hands-on Python programming sessions, lectures on digital literacy, internet architecture, domain industry operations, and career guidance workshops.
Program goals:
- Enhance educators’ professional competencies in applying innovative approaches to teaching IT technologies and programming.
- Improve opportunities for successful social integration and career development among graduates of orphanages, boarding schools, small-class, and rural schools by equipping them with foundational programming skills, knowledge of basic internet technologies, and the cultivation of algorithmic and logical thinking through Python.
“The Unlocking the Code program is structured as follows: project specialists and tutors train educators in organizing digital literacy and programming sessions. Subsequently, educators share this knowledge with their students, collaborate on assignments, and prepare for final project presentations,” explains Andrey Vorobyev, Director of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ. “Our aim is to provide educators with practical frameworks and methodologies for teaching programming, internet infrastructure, and IT career guidance. For school students, we seek not only to impart digital technology knowledge and skills applicable to their efficient use, including within their future careers, but also to foster proper self-confidence and enhance self-efficacy. We believe achievements in programming nurture a sense of competence and independence.”
The program is free of charge and will run for 5 months in a hybrid format (online + offline). An introductory lecture will be held on February 19. To participate, institutions must:
- Select one lead educator.
- Choose 5–10 students motivated to begin or continue learning programming.
- Prepare a classroom for sessions and assignments.
- Submit an application on the website секреты-кода.рф by February 15, 2025.
Upon completion, educators who successfully master the program and effectively transfer skills to their students will receive a professional development certification and a methodological guide for teaching programming and internet fundamentals.
School students will gain: Python programming skills, a course completion certificate, eligibility for a final project competition, and awards from the organizers.
