From February 11 to 18, Russia will host the 18th Safer Runet Week, a nationwide initiative to promote the safe and positive use of the internet and digital technology.
Safer Runet Week is a series of events designed to raise awareness among internet experts and users on various aspects of digital safety including roundtable discussions, Q&A with experts, contests, project presentations, tours and workshops covering a variety of target audiences, including children and teenagers, parents, teachers and other professionals working in education, the digital industry, research, as well as bloggers, journalists, and representatives of law enforcement. Special emphasis is placed on the safety of children and adolescents in the digital world.
In 2025, the main organizer of the event is the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ, which has always been an active participant of the previous events and a leading provider of educational programs on digital consumption, digital security and culture.
This year’s Safer Runet Week is co-organized with and supported by RAEC and the Stave Off! safe internet portal. The event’s partners include the Academy of Innovative Education and Development, the Russian State Children’s Library, Coddy, Russia’s Civic Chamber, and Avito. The Smart Internet Foundation, which manages the .ДЕТИ domain, is the information partner of the event.
The central events will be held in Moscow, but many of them will be open to regional participants via remote participation:
- February 11: Expert discussion dedicated to the opening of the Safer Runet Week
- February 11-18: Online cybersecurity quiz for schoolchildren
- February 13: Together for a Safer Internet, a nationwide videoconference hosted by the Russian State Children’s Library
- February 14: A series of roundtable discussions on digital security hosted by the Country for Children Working Group at the Public Council under the Russian Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights

The program continues to be updated. You can follow our updates on the official event page at неделя-безопасного-рунета.рф. Links to online streams and registration for public events will be available there soon.
For reference, although the Safer Runet Week is linked to the International Safer Internet Day observed on the second Tuesday of February in more than 160 countries, it is an independent Russian format designed for the domestic digital community.
