The Youth Council of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ held a meeting by convening its members to the Coordination Center’s office. They discussed their performance over the past six-month period and outlined their plans for 2025.
Youth Council Chairman Andrey Aleinikov focused on the council members’ participation in the December 2024 Global Internet Governance Forum as one of the main undertakings by the Youth Council. The forum took place in Saudi Arabia, where the Coordination Center’s Youth Council worked with the International Information Security School to hold two sessions, one devoted to digital clones, and the second to individual sovereignty online. Council members also recorded a series of video interviews with the leading online experts on the key online development trends and internet’s future, the main challenges and issues, as well as efforts to engage young people in internet governance.
In the fall of 2024, council members took part in the 3rd International Cyber Security School for Young People. The Coordination Center acted as the school’s partner. During the event, Youth Council members presented the center’s projects to a student audience, including the Summer Internet Governance School, a special course on RIGF, the Coordination Center Youth Council, as well as the Digital Reality Discussion Club and podcast. They also held the Explore the Internet & Govern It quiz and played Explore the Internet boardgame with the school participants.
Over the past six months, Youth Council members took part in the 2nd International Youth Cyber Security Conference at the Foreign Ministry’s Diplomatic Academy. They held a session titled “Digital space on the crossroads of policy and technology.” In addition to this, council members held a session titled “Internet governance” at the Telecommunications and Computing Systems International Science and Technology Forum held by MTUCI, the Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics.
The council had quite a packed agenda in autumn. Apart from taking part in various events, its members recorded the Digital Reality podcast and helped score contributions submitted by students as part of the Summer Internet Governance School.
“As usual, we had a lot of work this past autumn. There were all these projects, as well as events. The Youth Council has been able to achieve all the objectives we had for the second half of 2024. With every project we made a step forward, while also acquiring new experience, inspiration and new ideas. It is now high time that we think about the future. We are already focused on fulfilling our plans for 2025, and expect this year to be just as interesting and productive,” Youth Council Chairman Andrey Aleinikov said.
This spring, the council intends to devise a quest based on the Explore the Internet game. It will also contribute to preparing the 15th Russian Internet Governance Forum, which is scheduled to take place on April 7. The deadline for submitting suggestions regarding its program is approaching – the form for submitting these applications is available on the RIGF 2025 website.
