Two weeks remain for IP&IT LAW 2025 internet law contest submissions

The deadline is approaching for submissions to the 10th National Youth Competition on Information Technology and Intellectual Property Law – IP&IT LAW 2025. The call for papers will close on February 1, at 9:00 p.m. Moscow time.

The competition is traditionally organized by the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ and IP CLUB, under the auspices of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), with support from the Intellectual Property Court, the Russian Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent), and the Commission for the Development of Creative Industries.

University students, postgraduates, and young experts from Russia and other countries with requisite legal knowledge are encouraged to participate in the anniversary edition of IP&IT LAW.

Contestants must submit previously unpublished research, addressing legal issues with references to legislation, doctrine, and both domestic and foreign case law, along with proposed solutions. The topics for 2024 include, but are not limited to:

  • The potential for internet addressing mechanisms to be recognized as objects of civil rights;
  • Liability for intellectual property infringements involving AI;
  • Prospects for the legal protection of board games;
  • Legal regime for intellectual property in outsourcing and outstaffing arrangements;
  • Legal aspects of integrating technology in the fashion industry.

Participation in the competition is free of charge. Research papers, along with the application form, must be sent to the organizing committee at org@ipclub.in no later than February 1, 2025. Each entry will be assessed according to several criteria: style of presentation, consistency of arguments, quality of source analysis, clarity of material presentation, and originality of the author’s approach. A jury of experts in intellectual property and information technology law, including Doctors of Science and PhDs in law, will evaluate the submissions.

Winners of the Contest will receive valuable prizes from the organizers and partners, including cash prizes starting at 50,000 rubles, certificates for free participation in educational programs, paid internships, and many more. The best entries will be published in the Intellectual Property Rights Court Journal.
