Runet Prize to be presented in Tretyakov Gallery new building

On November 1, the TASS press center hosted a news conference on the 21st Runet Prize, the national high-tech and internet award. Its organizers and partners spoke about the key features of the contest in 2024. The main news items include the theme of the event: Runet’s 30th anniversary.

The main innovations were covered by the Runet Prize’s organizer and ideologist, Director of Russian Association of Electronic Communications (RAEC) Sergei Grebennikov: “The Runet Prize has been established in 2004. This year, we are holding the 21st award ceremony for the Prize-winning projects in the Russian segment of the internet. The contest has new unique features every year: new categories, focuses, themes and, of course, different venues. This year is no exception: we are happy to announce that the 21st award ceremony will be held in the new building of the Tretyakov Gallery on Kadashevskaya Embankment on December 9.”

Sergei Grebennikov also presented a new special category, the City of Muses, established by Mikhail Seslavinsky, one of the creators of the Runet:
“Mr Seslavinsky considered it important to reward people who write and speak about important internet-related cultural themes on their blogs with all sincerity and dedication. This is the only category that will be awarded not only with a Runet Prize statuette, but also a cash prize.”
There is also a category dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Runet, which was described by CCTLD Director Andrey Vorobyev:

We could not but create a special category, 30 Years of .RU, on the year of the CCTLD’s 30th anniversary. In the Runet’s anniversary year, we want to highlight those projects that have contributed to its development as a whole over the past three decades. I would also like to note an important trend of the Runet Prize: the convergence of culture and internet technologies. Today, many large Runet projects adhere to this trend, and it is symbolic that this year the award ceremony will be held in the new Tretyakov Gallery building, where the largest collection of works of Russian fine art is kept.”

Yelizaveta Belyakova, Chair of the Alliance for the Protection of Children in the Digital Environment, noted that not only children’s, but also family projects can participate in the Children’s Runet and Family Values category. This will help attract more attention to the digital environment in terms of the family values in the Year of the Family.

“We are very proud that our cooperation with the Runet Prize has become traditional. We have a Runet Prize award for a children’s app,” Irina Dorokhina, Director of the Public Relations Department at GPM Projects, said. Irina spoke about the Podcasts and Digital Content category. It will recognize podcasting organizations and projects, interesting Telegram channels, and blogs that develop interesting content on the internet.

The 2024 People’s Vote nomination was “Best Creator of Horizontal Video Content.” The project that receives the most votes will be awarded on stage. The People’s Vote partner is VK Video.
