Launch of the fifth season of the National Digital Dictation event

On October 10, the fifth season of the Russian National Digital Dictation event was inaugurated in Moscow at the Avito venue, the event's general partner. This event is acknowledged as Russia's most popular examination in digital literacy. Residents from all Russian regions are participating in the dictation quiz, which is scheduled from October 10 to 28.

Yevgeny Khasin, Acting Director of the Cybersecurity Department of the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications, and Mass Media of the Russian Federation, delivered a welcoming address to participants. He stated:

"The Digital Dictation quiz is not merely a test but a significant event. It is never too late to learn, and digital literacy requires continuous training as technologies, skills, opportunities, and threats evolve.

I hope that after the Digital Dictation test, we will all become a little more literate. The event provides a unique opportunity for individuals of all ages – from schoolchildren to the elderly – who are engaged in digital activities to enhance their literacy. I wish each participant success in the Dictation and the acquisition of new valuable experiences."

This year's event is organized by the Association of Electronic Communications (RAEC). Sergey Grebennikov, Director of RAEC and an advocate of the Digital Dictation test, elaborated on why internet literacy is one of the most crucial skills of our era.

"From Kaliningrad to Sakhalin, the National Digital Dictation event has commenced, enabling everyone to evaluate their knowledge of digital literacy fundamentals. Within the first few hours of its opening, over 50,000 people have completed the quiz. This is an excellent start, and we aim to increase this number. This year, even more participants can join as the project website is now accessible to individuals with disabilities. I am confident that the Russian National Digital Dictation event will contribute to creating a secure online environment for every user within the Russian internet segment, both children and adults, and will assist society, business, and government in combating cyber threats," the speaker noted.

The Digital Dictation quiz is being held for the fifth time, having first been conducted during the 25th anniversary of the .RU domain. The Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ has been a partner throughout these years.

"Participation in the Digital Dictation test benefits everyone by enhancing digital competencies and aiding in resisting online fraud. We offer participants a set of questions concerning the domain name system and the internet, and annually we observe an increase in correct answers in this section. We will assess this year's results – the 30th anniversary of .RU – and compare them with those from five years ago. Together, we will analyze the mistakes: participants will learn if their answers were correct, and we will identify topics that require further focus in our educational activities," stated Andrey Vorobyev, Director of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ.

Please be reminded that everyone can participate in the Digital Dictation and assess their knowledge of digital literacy basics from October 10 to 28 on the official website: https://digitaldictation.ru.

Additionally, the campaign's official website includes an interactive map displaying offline regional sites where individuals can take the Digital Dictation test, as well as attend lectures and masterclasses.
