Mentor School "Study the Internet" Released Guideline for Teachers

The team of authors of the Academy of Innovative Education and Development and the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ has prepared methodological recommendations for teaching staff "a toolkit that allows a modern teacher to navigate current trends aimed at improving personal digital literacy and the digital literacy of students."

The Guideline was prepared based on the results of the first Mentor School "Study the Internet", which is also being implemented jointly by the Coordination Center and the Academy for the second year in a row. Let us remind you that this is an additional education program for specialists working with children and young people.

According to the authors, digital literacy and hygiene are important components of a modern educational program, since they allow you to develop skills in working with new technologies, learn to critically evaluate information received from the Internet, keep the time spent in front of the gadget screen within acceptable limits, and learn the rules of netiquette and safe behavior on the network. Thus, digital literacy is becoming a key competency for both students and teachers, who must be able to use cyber technologies in their work to help children and young people develop these skills for successful adaptation in the modern information society.

The Guideline consists of several sections. The first one examines in detail the phenomenon of digital transformation of education, the specifics of upbringing and socialization of students in the digital environment, as well as the regulatory framework for this process. The second section of the manual is devoted to digital tools in education and IT mentoring technology, including using the example of the project "Study the Internet - Govern It". The third section is devoted to practical recommendations for designing classes based on online simulators of the project "Study the Internet - Govern It" on topics related to digital technologies. Most of the last section is occupied by examples of technological maps of such classes, developed by teachers - graduates of the first School of Mentors "Study the Internet".

The methodological recommendations are published in the public domain on the websites of the Coordination Center in the Media Center section (Publications section), the "Study the Internet - Govern It" project (section “For Teachers”– “Methodology”) and the School of Mentors Study the Internet.
