On August 7, representatives of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ and cybersecurity experts spoke to the participants of the second enrollment of the summer internship for students, organized by the Safe Internet League and the National Center for Assistance to Missing and Injured Children.
The Coordination Center’s Project Manager Olga Baskakova spoke about the Center's activities in the field of ensuring the security of Russian national domain zones .RU and .РФ, as well as about which companies' websites are most often counterfeited by fraudsters and what needs to be done to avoid falling for the tricks of intruders.
"In my report, I talked about the initiatives that the Coordination Center promotes to improve security in the domain space. We work in all possible directions. The main one, in my personal opinion, is training Internet users in the correct behavior on the Internet and recognizing dangerous content, because the human factor is the most vulnerable link in our entire system," Olga said. She noted that technical methods of suppressing illegal content work, but without training users, it is impossible to achieve excellent results in improving security. "Training, training and more training!" she added.
Participants of the internship were also addressed by the Head of the Training Department of F.A.C.C.T. Svetlana Burikova with a presentation on Internet fraud. She spoke about the evolution of phishing, common tricks of fraudsters and shared the rules of security and digital hygiene.
The "cybersecurity day" was continued by Egor Bubnov, Senior Content Analyst at Kaspersky Lab. He shared statistics on attacks on users in Telegram and noted that the messenger remains one of the favorite platforms for scammers. Egor identified popular attack vectors and told how people are deceived in messengers and how phishing links get to users. After the lectures, Evgeny Pankov, Head of Special Projects at the Coordination Center, held a quiz for the children, "Study the Internet - Govern It!", the questions of which helped participants consolidate the knowledge they had gained.
