Training at the second School of Mentors “Study the Internet” officially ended on June 11. This is an additional professional development program for teachers, which involves obtaining basic knowledge about the history and structure of the Internet, management processes and internationalization of the global network, but most importantly - professional skills in the field of teaching digital literacy, introducing digital tools into the educational process and applying the principles of IT mentoring. The training took place online on the GetCourse platform.
The school was created by the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ together with the Academy of Innovative Education and Development and operates on the basis of the interactive educational project “Study the Internet - Govern It.”
“Graduation” was held live on the VK community of the “Study the Internet” project. The guests of the stream - the founders of the school - shared their opinions on the organization of training, ideas for the development of the educational program, impressions of the mentors’ certification projects, which involved creating a team to participate in the Family IT Marathon on Digital Literacy, as well as jointly performing creative work and tasks online with its participants -tournament on the topic “Internet culture”.
Olga Rubtsova, Rector of the Academy of Innovative Education and Development, invited graduates of the School to participate in the project “Safe Information Environment of Childhood” and “Methodological Thursday”; within the framework of the latter, each of them will be able to share their pedagogical experiences with colleagues. At the end of her greeting, Olga Vladimirovna shared information about the preparation of Certificates of advanced training: every mentor who has successfully completed training at the School will receive a document – both on a “strictly sample form” and in electronic form for the Federal Register of Information on Educational Documents. Certificates will be prepared by July 15.
In addition, graduates learned about a new interactive tool for teachers ‒ “IT Lesson”. It was presented by Olga Yakovleva, Head of the Project Department of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ. This is a tool for teachers with which you can organize and conduct a lesson based on theoretical materials and tasks from the online game “Knowledge” of the project “Study the Internet - Govern It.”
“This tool will allow the teacher to change the traditional lesson scenario, make it more interactive, expand the content of the basic computer science program, and also organize individual work with a differentiated approach to each student by choosing the complexity of the tasks,” Olga Yakovleva noted. “All topics and tasks of the Knowledge game are available for organizing an IT lesson, of which there are currently more than 150.”
Andrey Vorobyev, Director of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ, spoke about upcoming events for teachers and young professionals, inviting new mentors of the “Study the Internet” project to participate. In particular, they talked about an online conference with international participation “Modern Technologies in Education”, a competition for professional and aspiring journalists “DOT-Journalism”, an Online Championship in Digital Literacy “Study the Internet - Govern It”, which starts in September and will be dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Runet, as well as the Summer School on Internet Government, registration for which is already open.
“Training at the School of Mentors, in my opinion, is the first step into the community of teachers who care about the direction in which the development of the Internet is moving. We are ready to listen to your suggestions for developing the School’s program so that it becomes even more useful for your practical activities. I would like the knowledge that you receive as part of our course to be useful to both you and your students,” Andrey Vorobyev addressed the School graduates.
It should be noted that more than 350 specialists working with children and youth submitted applications to participate in the second School. Most of the applicants represented Moscow, St. Petersburg, the Chuvash Republic, Moscow, Novosibirsk, Samara, Nizhny Novgorod and Rostov regions.
62 applicants passed the preliminary selection by completing a test task and were enrolled in the main course of the School - mostly computer science teachers, librarians and additional education teachers.
29 School participants successfully completed the certification task and received graduate status. All of them will receive a state-issued certificate of advanced training, a certificate as a mentor for the “Study the Internet - Govern It” project, as well as access to a community of experts in the field of education.
Recruitment for the third School of Mentors “Study the Internet” will begin on June 26, and training will take place in August 2024.
