On June 5, a meeting of the Legal Issues Committee of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ, organized in cooperation with IP CLUB, was held online. The event was moderated by the Chairman of the Committee, President of IP CLUB, Doctor of Law, Marina Rozhkova.
The meeting was devoted to practice-oriented topics. The Head of the Department for Work with Registrars and Users of the Center, Georgy Georgievsky, shared questions from Internet users regarding domain registration. He explained in detail what to do if you forgot to renew the registration of the desired domain, what to do if the accreditation of the registrar who owns the domain name is terminated, what steps should be taken if the name of the administrative company is changed, and why a domain name can be included in the stop list.
General Director of the Association of Music Companies “National Federation of the Music Industry”, Associate Professor of the Department of Digital Technologies and Biolaw of the National Research University Higher School of Economics, Ph.D, Nikita Danilov in his report spoke about regulatory trends and legislative initiatives dedicated to the protection of synthesized voices and digital images. He emphasized that the problems existing in this area require a joint cross-industry search for solutions by copyright holders, Internet companies and end users. And Ekaterina Kalinicheva, partner, Head of the IP Protection Practice on the Internet at Semenov&Pevzner, touched on the practical aspects of domain disputes. She shared a recent case from working practice, when a domain name was unblocked and excluded from the Roskomnadzor registry, and noted that such a practice can be useful for conscientious domain name administrators.
