The first meeting of the working group to prepare for the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Runet took place on February 12. The meeting participants, among whom were representatives of RAEC, the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ, RU-CENTER, the Center for Global IT-Cooperation and other companies and organizations, discussed ideas and proposals for the implementation of the “Runet 30th Anniversary” project. The anniversary events will take place from March to December 2024 and include both professional events and promotions for a wide range of Internet users.
Executive Director of RAEC Ekaterina Demkina said that the main events of the anniversary will be held at venues in Moscow and the Moscow region: for example, on April 7, the birthday of the .RU, a number of festive events are planned to be held at VDNKh, where everyone will be able to take part in the celebration, and in May Sections, meetings, quizzes, quizzes and other events dedicated to this date are already planned at the Russian Internet Forum RIF 2024.
Director of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ Andrey Vorobyev said that the 30th anniversary of the .RU will be traditionally celebrated at the Russian Internet Governance Forum RIGF 2024, which this year will be held on April 9-10. A booth dedicated to the anniversary of the .RU domain and the Runet is planned to be organized at the Svyaz 2024 exhibition. Also, in honor of the 30th anniversary of the .RU, the Coordination Center announced an essay competition on the topic “30 Years of Runet History.” The award ceremony for the winner will take place on April 5 as part of the IV Youth Digital Forum (Youth RIGF 2024).
Other festive events include educational and entertainment marathons, an exhibition of Runet achievements, concerts, meetings with experts and bloggers, unusual online promotions and much more. In March, it is planned to launch a website dedicated to the anniversary, where a detailed plan of all festive events will be presented.
Let us remind you that in 2024 the .RU domain will turn 30 years old. On April 7, 1994, the international network information center InterNIC officially delegated the national top-level domain .RU for the Russian Federation, and this day can be considered the birthday of the Russian Internet - Runet.
