On December 15, the 20th anniversary “Runet Prize 2023” was held at the VEB Center site in Moscow. During the ceremony, the results were summed up and the companies, persons and projects that made the greatest contribution to the development of the Runet were awarded. This year, 685 organizations, companies, media and digital projects competed for the honorary award. The award was presented in 6 main and 8 special nominations, as well as in the People’s Vote nomination “Best Social Project of the Runet”. The winners were 81 organizations and projects.
During the award ceremony, First Deputy Head of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation Sergei Kiriyenko addressed the laureates and guests of the Runet Prize 2023 with a welcoming speech.
“It is pleasant to note that most of the Prize’s projects are socially oriented. This is the development and support of children and youth, the preservation of historical heritage, cultural and educational projects. I hope that the implementation of projects in such important areas will continue. It is certainly important to continue working to improve digital literacy, introduce technologies and solutions aimed at ensuring security on the Internet. It’s gratifying that this year the organizers of the Runet Prize have dedicated a separate nomination to this area,” Sergey Kiriyenko said.
The Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ traditionally became a partner of the Award and established a special nomination “For contribution to the development of national domains .RU and .РФ”. It presented companies, organizations and projects that contributed to the active development of the Russian domain space.
And the best of them are:
- REG.RU– for the high rate of new registrations.
- ANO “National Priorities” – for launching a large number of its own projects on the Runet and, in particular, in the .РФ domain.
- Прокачайскиллзащиты.рф portal Ministry of Digital Development of Russia.
- Достижения.РФ project (Artificial Intelligence Selection)
The “Study the Internet & Govern It!” was also awarded a special award. for the creation of a special educational module for visually challenged users.
The statuettes were presented to the laureates by the Director of the Coordination Center, Andrey Vorobyev.
“All the past years, the Runet Prize has gone side by side with the history of the development of the .RU domain - the first Runet Prize was awarded in the year of the 10th anniversary of .RU, and then we were able to recognize all the large Internet companies that existed at that time. Today, each of those present in this hall deserves to receive the coveted statuette, but, probably, those who are now taking the stage to receive it have done a little more over the past year than others. In our nomination, these include registrars who actively registered domain names for our users, and organizations that created projects in national domain zones and thereby popularized the national domain space,” Andrey Vorobyev said.
In 2023, the domain industry was widely represented among the laureates and diploma recipients of the competition. Thus, for their many years of contribution to the development of the Russian Internet industry, well-known professionals Alexey Rogdev (Technical Center of Internet) and Elena Voronina (MSK-IX) were named among the TOP 10 people of Runet. And the TOP 10 Runet companies included RIPN (the first administrator of the .RU domain and registry of the .SU domain) and RU-CENTER – one of the oldest domain name registrars.
Congratulations again to all the winners!
