Director of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ Andrey Vorobyev gave a lecture “How to Choose and Protect a Domain Name. Legal Aspects of Domain Name Registration" for first-year students of the master's program "Information Culture of Digital Transformation" of the specialized department of Russian Association for Networks and Services (RANS) at Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics (MTUCI).
Andrey Vorobyev told students about what they should pay attention to when choosing and registering a domain name, how to avoid becoming a victim of attackers and how to protect your business on the Internet, as well as about the project of the Center “Domain Patrol”, within which organizations specified by the Coordination Center TLD .RU/.РФ competent in identifying violations on the Internet, interact with accredited domain registrars in the .RU and .РФ zones. Interestingly, some of the students are already working in competent organizations and are directly involved in ensuring online security.
Andrey Vorobyev also spoke about the tasks of the registry of national domains and youth projects that are implemented by the Coordination Center. These include the Summer School on Internet Governance, the Youth Council of the Center, the discussion club “Digital Reality”, the online championship “Study the Internet & Govern It!”, a special course for young people within the framework of the Russian Forum on Internet Governance, the IP&IT LAW competition and others. Many of the students already have experience participating in youth initiatives of the Coordination Center and are interested in undergoing summer internship at the Coordination Center.
In conclusion, the lecturer answered questions from the participants and invited everyone to take part in youth projects or take a summer internship at the Coordination Center.
Let us remind you that this year the first graduation of specialists took place who completed their studies in the master’s program “Information Culture of Digital Transformation” (ICDT) of the specialized department of RANS at MTUCI. In the process of two-year training, comprehensively developed specialists are trained who are able to apply in their further work knowledge in the areas of technological development of ICT infrastructure and ensuring trust and security in its use, legal and technical regulation, procedural and organizational aspects of the activities of international organizations for standardization, introducing proposals and discussions in English, in logical thinking and decision-making, in ethics, morality, culture.
The master's program in the training profile "Information Culture of Digital Transformation" in the direction 10.04.01 "Information Security" is aimed at training technical experts capable of representing the interests of the Russian Federation in international organizations working in the areas of developing ICT infrastructure and ensuring trust and security in its use.
