Press conference, where the organizers and partners of one of the most prestigious industry awards revealed the details of the XX Runet Prize, was held at the TASS site on October 27. In 2023, the Runet Prize will be awarded for the 20th anniversary!
Traditionally, it is awarded to companies and organizations that have made a significant contribution to the development of the Russian Internet industry over the past year. This year, awards will be presented in 6 main and 8 special categories.
During the press conference, the organizers and partners spoke about the features of the anniversary Prize, announced the nominations and revealed the details of the awards ceremony. Thus, the top 10 Runet people and the top 10 organizations will be selected this year for the first time.
“Over the years of the project’s life, we have witnessed a huge transformation of the Runet: some leaders were replaced by new ambitious companies, and we no longer remember other leaders of past years, while completely unexpected startups suddenly soared to digital heights. Every year we are pleased to see the emotions of company representatives who take the stage for what is popularly called the Internet Oscar - the RU statuette. It’s great together with key representatives of Russia’s digital circuit to determine our digital future, full of healthy competition,” RAEC Director Sergey Grebennikov said.
Director of the Coordination Center Andrey Vorobyev spoke about the long-term support of the Runet Prize and the nomination that the center established this year: “The 20-year history of the Prize has shown that every year there is someone to reward. And this year we are presenting a special nomination “For Contribution to the Development of National Domains .RU/.РФ”, the winners of which will be organizations and projects that contribute to the development of the Russian domain space. In addition, we want to recognize individuals for their significant contribution to the development of the Runet, but we will talk about this nomination later.”
Traditionally, a popular vote will be held as part of the Award: users will choose the Blogger of the Year - the most influential person on the Runet who has made the greatest contribution to the development of the Russian segment of the Internet. You can nominate your favorite blogger from October 27th.
One of the most striking innovations of the year is the establishment of a special award. The organizers will select the top 10 Runet people and the top 10 organizations that, in the opinion of the organizing committee, have made the greatest contribution to the development of the Internet industry in Russia over the past 20 years.
Some nominations appeared for the first time as part of the Runet Prize of the anniversary year. Sergei Plugotarenko, General Director of the ANO Digital Economy, spoke about the special nomination “Digital Economy”: “It is important to support Russian companies that have accomplished no small feat over the past year - we see and daily interact with the variety of domestic services and technologies, which in many ways are not inferior to Western ones analogues, in some places they are superior, in others they have enormous potential. Being in constant contact with business: our founders, members of the Industrial Competence Centers and Centers for the Development of General System and Application Software, companies involved in the processes of digitalization of the economy, the introduction of AI into business processes, we see how much has already been done towards import substitution in sectors of the economy. Therefore, this year we are partnering with the Runet Prize in the Digital Economy category.”

The Runet Prize is an annual award for the best companies and their projects and mobile applications on the Runet. The National Award for Contribution to the Development of the Russian Segment of the Internet is the only project in Russia that annually selects the best of the best in the field of high technology and the Internet and is aimed both at uniting all industry players and at identifying current trends in the development of digital technologies. Awarded since 2004.
